Australia end Scotland's World Cup, send England into Super Eight

Scotland was eliminated from the Twenty20 World Cup by Australia in St Lucia on Saturday after five wickets. England reached Super Eight.

Berrington, whose team left because they had a lower net run rate than England, said Scottish players were frustrated after not scoring.

After Australia won the toss, George Munsey and McMullen helped Scotland reach 89 for the second wicket after Ashton Agar dismissed Michael Jones in the first over.

Australia tightened up to restrict the Scots to 42 runs in their final five overs after Maxwell bowled Munsey to midwicket for 35 and Zampa bowled McMullen, who smashed two sixes and six fours before Mitchell Starc caught Berrington.

The Scots gained momentum in the Australian innings, but Warner, Marsh, and Maxwell were bowled cheaply, including Maxwell by Mark Watt with a peach.

Head and Stoinis scored 80 for the third wicket while warming up, turning the game around. The Australians were encouraged after Scottish seamer Safyaan Sharif terminated his innings after Head hit three sixes off legal deliveries.
